ESIA Guidelines for the Oil and Gas Sector

HSE International, LLC, together with Trusted Partners Africa and Cardno International Development, delivered the ESIA Guidelines for the Kenyan Oil & Gas Upstream, Midstream and Downstream Sectors.

The Guidelines describe a best practice for undertaking an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, and contains a compendium of anticipated Environmental / Social / Health & Safety risks and hazards, as well as associated best practice / good international industry practices for mitigation and management. 

 The document includes:

  • Onshore & Offshore Exploration Seismic Surveys

  • Onshore & Offshore Exploration and Appraisal Drilling

  • Onshore & Offshore Development and Production Operations

  • Onshore & Offshore Transportation

  • Downstream Oil and Gas Products Storage & Pipelines

  • Downstream Refining

  • Onshore & Offshore - Upstream, Midstream Decommissioning and Rehabilitation

The project was funded by the World Bank through Kenya Petroleum Technical Assistance Project (KEPTAP).
